I struggle occasionally with lack of confidence, like I am pretty sure most others do too. But how do we conquer that? What can we do to give ourselves a bit of a confidence boost and stop the anxiety or shyness?
I find that these things help me, so maybe, hopefully they will help you too!
1. Imagine yourself in a confidence bubble.
This sounds a bit strange, and whenever I tell people they laugh at first but then realise that it actually makes sense. I find this helps when I have an interview. I imagine that I am enclosed in a bubble of confidence and everyone around me thinks that I am a confident individual. This then starts to make you think and feel more confident and eases your mind a bit too. It’s all about the power of the mind!
2. Let your mind have a more positive outlook.
Lack of confidence can leave you with quite a negative frame of mind, so it helps to teach yourself to think more positively. Just remember that there is always a silver lining, and what is the worst that can happen?
3. Throw yourself in the deep end.
Daunting but effective in some cases. Not really a good method for anxiety, but lack of confidence is usually just your mind saying that you can’t do something, but you can. Whether you are really wanting to talk to a guy/girl or want to try out sky diving! DO IT! Otherwise you will look back and regret it. (Obviously only do sky diving if you actually want to!..Would be a bit weird to force you to do that..).
4. Ask yourself “what is the worst that could happen?”.
We always seem to create more problems and worries in our head than those that actually exist. So think about what the worst is that could happen, and it’s probably not much at all.
